some people call this "casual dating" but i question that notion - is it really considering dating when you decide to keep at status quo? does dating always have to progress or can it remain stagnant and still have a purpose?
my hypothesis is that there is NO such thing as true "casual dating" what makes it casual? the slower pace? the non-exclusivety part? my guess is that you are either "dating" with the chance of it becoming more intense or more serious OR you are "mutually just using each other" for the company, the good looks, good conversation, the free meal, the faux affection, or the guiltless sex.
i wouldnt really even call that dating so much as two acquaintenances taking advantage of one another...willingly...without remorse or guilt... the cycle is only broken if one person actually finds someone else they like and end the guiltless fun for real dating. until then, guilt-free fun is faultless as long as both people realize they are doing it and dont lie to themselves about what is actually happening....
